46th annual Essex Lions Turkey Trot 5K.  Register for race at  www.essexmalions.com.  For those not racing, we are looking for volunteers to help out.

Honorary member Debbie Marcus will be visiting from Vermont to tell us about Rotplast, Rotary's program for providing cleft palate surgical services to people all over the world who otherwise would not be able to get this life changing procedure.  Debbie served on 2 Rotoplast missions as a non-medical volunteer and will tell us about upcoming opportunities.  Also speaking will be Terry Curran, current chair of an April mission to teh Phillipines.

Meet at Walmart to spend $500 of club funds for gifts for boys and $500 for gifts for girls.  In the past we've broken up into guys and girls groups to do the buying but we can do whatever this year's team wants.

Ron Block, District Secretary and Assistant Governor, will join us to give us a District update, including open District positions, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Rotary Leadership Institute.  We will also be joined by Kat  Chrzanowski, who will tell us about her plans for an art studio in Manchester, which will offer artt classes and community events.

In addition to regular Club business, we will hear from Maureen Alward, Executive Director fo TownGreen whose mission is to assit the Cape Ann region in moving to fossil-free sustainability and prepare for the impacts of climate change.  We will also have a brief but important update from Lindsay Banks on the MERSD budget.

Our guest speaker will be Emily Pierce, who is the new Executive Director of Schooner Adventure.

Morning meeting at the Legion, MBTS

The Club is thrilled to host the 20th Annual Kentucky Derby Party and Auction on Saturday May 3rd from 5:30 to 8:30!  This event brings items from all corners from golf outings and beach barbecues to fine clothing and complete wine cellars.  There is a live auction featuring an auctioneer and State Senator Bruce Tarr for items including pro sports tickets, golf outings, condo stays in Florida and Marthas Vineyard. boat cruises and more!  We will watch the Derby race live, there will be a non-betting lottery on the outcome, a hat contest with the best woman's and men's hat winning a bottle of real Kentucky bourbon and a bouquet of roses.  An excellent buffet dinner will be served throughout the evening, cash bar (yes mint julep), and best of all we are raising money for local scholarships, food banks and international projects. So put on your Derby hats and be ready to have a fun time with fun people.
