For Immediate Release: September 24, 2025 Subject: Manchester-Essex Rotary Club Announces GEARS FOR GOOD Inaugural Community Bike Event on October 26 at Masconomo Park, Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts Contact: Ken Riehl, kenriehl@gmail.com phone (978)778-5646 The Manchester-Essex Rotary Club is very pleased to announce an inaugural bike event on October 26 based out of Masconomo Park. The event is intended to both further the Club’s mission of community service in encouraging residents from both communities to enjoy biking as an important and fun way to recreate. Future events may also serve as a Club fundraiser depending on the level of participation. From Club President Jess Spinelli: We are thrilled to offer this inaugural community biking event as part of our Rotary Club's mission of Service Above Self for the enjoyment and benefit of riders of all ages, and especially as a means to encourage our young riders to experience the joy and fitness benefits of bike riding. There will be three different riding options to encourage riders of all ages and skill levels, from young riders with a fun obstacle course, teen and adult riders to Gordon College Trails (approximately 8 miles) and a longer route into Essex to Conomo Point with a water stop for more experienced road riders (approximately 18 mile loop). The event will also include a fun inflatable bouncy tent, coffee & treats, and participation with other town entities including Manchester’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, Public Safety and Riverside Cycle. The event details are follows: Date: October 26, rain or shine Time: 10:00 AM Registration 9:00 – 9:45 Location: Masconomo Park, Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts Three Routes: Bike Rodeo for under 7 year olds (cones course at Mascomo Park) Road / Gravel ride to Gordon College Trails (8 miles total) Road ride to Essex Conomo Point (18 mile loop) Cost: $35 Adults ($25 early registration) $15 under 18 ($10 early registration) $65 families ($55 early registration) Bike Rodeo participation is free
About the Manchester-Essex Rotary Club: Rotary is a global network of over 1 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home around the globe – in the spirit of fun and fellowship. Chartered in 2002, the Club’s mission is community and international service with a motto of Service Above Self, and raises money through event fundraising to give about $40,000 away annually to local non-profits, community groups and schools including about $15,000 in high school scholarships. The Club gave away a record $50,000 in fiscal year 2025. The Club meets weekly and consists of over 40 members primarily from Manchester and Essex, and welcomes participation from all neighboring communities. |
