Toy Shopping with Rob
Nov 14, 2021 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Once again it is that time of year when we are all thinking about the up coming holidays. In the spirit of the season the club has generously donated $1000 toward buying holiday gifts for those less fortunate  which will be donated to Pathways for children. Each year I organize the shopping trip for this event. This year we will be shopping early to avoid supply chain issues, meeting at Wal-mart on 114 on Sunday, November 14th at 11AM. After the shopping is over, we will deliver the toys to my office in Magnolia and then meet for a drink and a bite at a location to be determined. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us for one of the most enjoyable events of the year. Send me an e-mail to Aikirob@yahoo.com. Include your phone number in the e-mail in case of last minute changes. All my best, Rob

Town Planner

Nov 17, 2021 6:00 PM

The Downtown Improvement Committee was formed several years ago to undertake the original Downtown Improvement Project, which rebuilt curbs, sidewalks, and lighting in the lower downtown area, which emphasis on improving safety and accessibility for all users in addition to vehicles.

We currently have two major point of focus.  One is to be in dialog with the business community on behalf of the Town to identify and implement policies which can support business recovery from COVID.  Areas where we have been active include the pathway between town hall parking and Beach St.; providing public rest rooms in the business area; improving outdoor dining opportunities; and identifying ways to provide parking for employees which will maximize street parking for customers.  Our longer term project is dependent upon funding to be realized through state and federal infrastructure programs which are likely to be forthcoming, and represents extending the original improvements in sidewalks, curbs, lighting, and accessibility throughout downtown, i. e. to Pine St. along central; to Tappan down Beach, and to the Sea/Washington St. intersection on Summer.

Obviously we are always open to new ideas from others and welcome the opportunity to discuss our current initiatives.

Kentucky Derby Fundraising Auction
May 07, 2022 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Returning from a two year hiatus the Club is thrilled to host the 7th Annual Kentucky Derby Party and Auction on Saturday May 7 from 5 to 8:30!  This event brings items from all corners from golf outings and beach barbecues to fine clothing and complete wine cellars.  There is a silent auction for smaller items and a live auction featuring auctioneer and State Senator Bruce Tarr for the big ticket items including an 80 inch smart television!  We will watch the Derby race live, there will be a non-betting lottery on the outcome, a hat contest with the best woman's and men's hat winning a bottle of real Kentucky bourbon and a bouquet of roses.  An excellent buffet dinner will be served throughout the evening, cash bar (yes mint julep), and best of all we are raising money for local scholarships, food banks and international projects. So put on your Derby hats and be ready to have a fun time with fun people. Tickets can be purchased online for $30 or at the door $35.
